Mountain Silversage is a rather rare herb in WoW Classic so it’s not that easy to farm consistently. It grows on rocky cliffs and can be found in Silithus, Winterspring, Eastern Plaguelands, Un’Goro Crater, and other zones with a monster level range above 45.
One of the best zones to go to for this herb is Un’Goro Crater. That’s because the area is easier to navigate than other zones such as Winterspring or EPL, and there’s less and lower level aggro. Also, the Un’Goro route is much simpler to follow than the routes you must take in other zones.
Requirements:
- Minimum level 55 character
- Minumum 280 skill in Herbalism
- Riding skill 150 (Journeyman)
- Epic ground mount (100% speed)
- Optional: GatherMate 2 addon
Where to go:
The WoW Classic Un’Goro Crater has only one major camp – Marshal’s Refuge (45, 6) – which is neutral, and usable by both Alliance and Horde players. So, if you have the FP at Marshal’s Refuge discovered, just fly there and start your herb gathering sessions from this point.
If you haven’t discovered the Marshal’s Refuge FP yet, the easiest way to get there is from Gadgetzan, Tanaris (50, 28). The entry point to Un’Goro from Tanaris, is at (27, 57).
What to do:
As we’ve already mentioned, Mountain Silversage grows on rocky cliffs, so the route you’ll be following is pretty straightforward. Simply follow the edges of the zone circling the crater and gathering all the herbs that you can find.
The northwestern section of the zone between Marshal’s Refuge and approx. (27, 29) doesn’t have any possible Mountain Silversage spawn points (or at least I haven’t found any so far). So once you complete a full circle and reach Marshal’s Refuge once more, instead of covering the NW area, go to the center of the zone at Fire Plume Ridge (50, 50). You should find at least one Mountain Silversage there as well. Once you’ve finished with Fire Plume Ridge, return to the western part of the zone, and resume the route on the edges of the zone.
Loot:
After one hour of following this route, I got approx. 4 stacks of Mountain Silversage and several other herbs:
- Mountain Silversage x 78
- Golden Sansam x 31
- Sungrass x 14
- Dreamfoil x 9
Of course, it’s not much if compared to the amount of Thorium I managed to get by following a similar Un’Goro Crater route. However, it’s still considerably more than I managed to get from different other areas. So, for now, I’d say that Un’Goro is still one of the best, if not the best places to get Mountain Silversage.
I’d also like to add here that I managed to gather this amount of silversage (or a similar amount) only early mornings. In prime time, on most servers, there are many players gathering it, and I’ve never managed to get more than two stacks.
Tips:
Although I’m not completely sure about this, the Mountain Silversage nodes (and other herb nodes) would seem to share a spawn with the Bloodpetal Sprouts, which are items for a repeatable Un’Goro quest with the same name. Differently put, if there were 2-3 Bloodpetal Sprouts available in the close vicinity of a possible Mountain Silversage spawn point, I haven’t seen the silversage up until I picked up the Bloodpetal Sprouts. Of course, other players might have picked it up while I wasn’t there, but still, it’s best to get all the Bloodpetal Sprouts that you can find near a possible Mountain Silversage spawn point, just to be sure.
Once you’re done with your herb gathering session in Un’Goro, you can turn in the Bloodpetal Sprouts (15 at a time) at Dadanga (44, 7) at Marshal’s Refuge, for Small Brown-wrapped Packages which can contain all kinds of stuff.
The GatherMate2 addon is not necessary for gathering herbs, however, it’s very useful especially for this specific herb. That’s because it’s quite rare and the addon saves the location of each herb node on the map. Thus, you’ll know exactly where you’ll find one, making it easier to move from one node to another.
