WotLK Classic – Icecrown Saronite Ore Mining Route

by Leave a Comment

Icecrown is the highest-level zone in Northrend. Thus, as opposed to Sholazar Basin, you’ll find more Rich Saronite Deposits and Titanium Veins here. The following mining route covers all the areas with a significant concentration of mineral nodes in Icecrown.

Requirements:

  • Minimum level 77 character
  • Minimum 400 Mining skill
  • At least 225 riding skill (Expert Riding)
  • At least normal flying mount
  • Mining pick
  • The GatherMate2 addon (optional)

Where to go:

Dalaran is the most important quest and NPC hub in Northrend, and it’s pretty close to one of the most important areas of this mining route. Therefore, you can always start your Icecrown mining session from there. Simply go to Krasus’ Landing (72, 46) in Dalaran, summon your mount, and fly northwest into Icecrown, at the Broken Front.

What to do:

Follow the route above and collect all the Saronite Deposits and Titanium Veins that you can find.

  • The areas that you shouldn’t leave unchecked are:
  • The Broken Front (69, 66)
  • Scourgeholme (77, 59)
  • The ice crevasses at Sindragosa’s Fall (70, 39)
  • The whole northern part of the zone;
  • The Weeping Quarry (40, 37)
  • The Fleshwerks and the cave there at (34, 69)
  • The Court of Bones (48, 82) and the area in front of Icecrown Citadel
  • Malykriss: The Vile Hold (57, 73)

Loot:

After one hour of mining while following this Icecrown route, I got the following valuables:

  • Saronite Ore x 273
  • Titanium Ore x 11
  • Crystallized Shadow x 3
  • Eternal Shadow x 9
  • Crystallized Earth x 5
  • Eternal Earth x 6
  • Crystallized Fire x 2
  • Eternal Fire x 1
  • Crystallized Air x 6
  • Eternal Water x 1
  • Sky Sapphire x 2
  • Forest Emerald x 2
  • Chalcedony x 3
  • Bloodstone x 1
  • Shadow Crystal x 1
  • Dark Jade x 2
  • Huge Citrine x 3
  • Sun Crystal x 3

Tips:

At the Fleshwerks, it’s best to fly above the cave area to see if there are any metal deposits inside; they should appear on your radar as greyed out. If there aren’t at least two deposits available inside the cave, I usually skip it until the next time I pass through.

The area at the Weeping Quarry holds multiple spawning points for both Saronite and Titanium. Also, the respawn rate of minerals here seems to be slightly higher than in the rest of the zone (at least for now). Therefore, many players simply camp this area. So, you’ll need to be swift when clearing aggro, as they might take the ore as you’re fighting the mobs. Plus, on a PvP server, you should be ready for a tussle.

There are several Arctic Clouds on this route. Therefore, if you have Engineering and the Zapthrottle Mote Extractor, you should be able to see them on the minimap and collect them.

The northern cliff base of Ymirheim also has multiple possible Saronite Deposits spawn points. So, you can check this area when moving between The Fleshwerks and The Broken Front. However, over several mining sessions, I found more Titanium at The Court of Bones and in front / under Icecrown Citadel.
