Terocone is a herb that can only be found in Terokkar Forest, specifically in the green areas on the map. It’s also not very abundant in the TBC Classic Terokkar Forest version compared to the retail WoW version, sometimes sharing spawning areas with other herbs such as Felweed and Dreaming Glory. Thus, it’s not exactly easy to gather bags-full of it in a short time.
Requirements:
- Minimum level 65 character
- Minimum 325 skill in Herbalism
- Minimum 225 Riding skill (Expert Riding)
- At least the normal flying mount
- The GatherMate2 addon (optional)
Where to go:
Terokkar Forest is the zone southwest from Hellfire Peninsula in TBC Classic. It holds the most important quest and NPC hub within the whole Outland continent – Shattrath City (30, 23). Therefore, this should be the starting point for your Terocone gathering session.
What to do:
First of all, the highest Terocone density in Terokkar Forest is in the southwestern corner of the zone, between the Bleeding Hollow orc camp and Veil Lithic. So, from Shattrath City go directly there and pick up all the herbs. If there aren’t any other herbalists in the area, you should get at least 10 Terocone from there.
Next, move to the northern part of the zone. Now, this area is fairly wide and you can basically find a Terocone under most trees. So, it’s best to simply zig-zag the whole area. However, since all the NPC camps in the area have at least a few possible resource spawn points, it’s best to check each one thoroughly.
In other words, the areas that you shouldn’t leave unchecked are:
- Grangol’var Village (40, 40)
- Cenarion Thicket (43, 20)
- Veil Reskk (50, 15)
- Tuurem (53, 26)
- Veil Shienor (58, 23)
- Bonechewer Ruins (65, 50)
- Firewing Point (70, 34)
Once you’re done with this area, follow the green patch south from Allerian Stronghold, at around (54, 63); you’ll find at least 1-2 Terocone nodes there. And finally, go west through the Bone Wastes, back to the first location of the route.
Loot:
After one hour of herb gathering in the two major green zones of Terokkar Forest, I got the following valuables:
- Terocone x 88
- Felweed x 58
- Dreaming Glory x 34
- Fel Lotus x 3
- Mote of Life x 19
- Fel Blossom x 4
Tips:
The area up the plateau at Skettis is level 70+. Thus, you’ll find Mana Thistle there, but there isn’t much of it (usually 2-3 nodes available at one time). So, if you’re only after Terocone, it’s best to leave this area out. Also, if you’re playing only a level 65 character, it’s going to be pretty difficult to pick up a herb node there, considering that most mobs are 5 levels higher.
If you have Inscriptions, you can mill Terocone, Felweed, and other herbs specific to the TBC Classic areas into Ebon Pigments and Nether Pigments, as well as craft inks from them. This way, you may get a better return for the lower-level herbs if you sell them in the Auction House.
If you have Alchemy, some of the better potions and elixirs that you can craft from Terocone are Elixir of Major Agility, Elixir of Draenic Wisdom, and Insane Strength Potion. Although these may not be too great for players that have already moved to the WotLK Classic areas, they’re still great for players who level up through the TBC Classic areas.
