Even though it’s possible now to fly in Draenor, Tanaan Jungle still is a difficult area for gatherers, as it’s packed with consistent amounts of nasty mobs all over the place. However, due to the fact that you can get Felblight from the resource nodes, this zone is a good place to gather stuff. For Mining, there are several areas that you should alternate to avoid wasting time. Therefore, here’s a Mining route in Tanaan, which should bring you a fair amount of minerals, Felblight and Primal Spirits.
Requirements:
- Mining skill, minimum 600;
- Character level 100;
- Flying mount;
- The Draenor Pathfinder achievement for the ability to fly in Draenor.
- GatherMate2 addon (optional).
Where to go:
Teleport or fly to Tanaan Jungle in Draenor, at Lion’s Watch (59,56) or Vol’mar (62,47).
What to do:
Follow the route described by the map above, beginning with The Fel Forge (49,41). Although there’s a lot of aggro here, there are also many Blackrock Ore and True Iron nodes. Once you’ve cleared them all, move a bit north-west, to the Ironhold Harbor (38,37), as you’ll find quite several ore nodes here.
Next, go further west, following the northern part of the Hellfire Citadel, towards The Iron Front. Pick up any ore that you can find in the canyon with the green water above the citadel. At The Iron Front the highest concentration of nodes that I could find is actually just before entering the area with the daily, around (26,58). But nonetheless, there are several nodes in the quest area, so you should pick them up as well, especially if you can fly.
Once you’ve cleared The Iron Front, move south-east, towards Fang’rila. Don’t enter this zone though, as it’s full of elite NPCs. You should however, find several nodes at the entry point to Fang’rila, around (54,67).
The final main area for this Mining route, is The Felblight, north from Vol’mar (62,47). You’ll find several more Blackrock Ore and True Iron Ore deposits here, especially on the rocky edges of the place, and on the road that leads to the Throne of Kil’jaeden.
Loot:
Although you will find plenty of ore nodes on this route, the chances for a Goren Protector to spawn while you’re mining, and drop 11-12 extra ore pieces, seem to be lower than in other zones. Within an hour I’ve got 2-3 tops. The Felblight dropped from the mined ore nodes compensates for the lack of Goren Protectors though. So, within an hour, I’ve got:
Blackrock Ore x 201 = 2g / each = 402g
True Iron Ore x 204 = 2g / each = 408g
Felblight x 8 = 140g / each = 1120g
Primal Spirit x 57
Draenic Stone x 254
TOTAL: 1930g for 1 hour of mining.
Tips:
Throne of Kil’jaeden and Fang’rila are two areas where you can find decent amounts of minerals. However, the mobs in these areas are elites, and pretty strong. So, even if your character is well geared, you will be slowed down considerably if you aggro several NPCs and have to kill them. Evidently, if your miner is an alt with rather poor gear, there’s a good chance you’ll die if you get aggro in these areas, that’s why I haven’t included them in the route.
In case you don’t have the ability to fly in Draenor yet, it’s going to be difficult to cover all this route. Therefore, in this case it’s best to focus on The Fel Forge and The Felblight areas.
You can find plenty of minerals in the mines at the Ironmonger’s Hold. The entry points of the place are at (38,44) and (32,49). However, these mines are full of mobs and you’ll have to fight your way to the ore node. Needless to say, you won’t be able to use a mount in there either. So, unless you have quests in there, or are going after the rares inside, it’s best to stay out of the place, and focus on the minerals outside.
For an hour of mining via this route you should get at least 50 Primal Spirits, which you can trade at your Garrison, for 2 x Savage Blood. Bloods can be sold in AH for 100-150g depending on server.
Turn the Draenic Stones into work orders at your Garrison mines, for extra True Iron or Blackrock Ore.
The Garrison Ability Artillery Strike can be very useful in Tanaan Jungle, as it gives you access to a powerful AoE damage, perfect for clearing the groups of mobs that you’ll aggro. So, if you haven’t chosen your Garrison Ability for Tanaan Jungle with your miner character, this is the one to go with.
