Skinning Spot – Borean Leather & The Gundrak Hatchling

If you’re looking for a spot to farm Borean Leather and also increase your skinning skill, the north-eastern part of Zul’Drak is probably one of the best choices. And not only that you’ll get plenty of WOTLK leather here, there’s a chance you get the Gundrak Hatchling pet for them, which still sells for high sums of gold.

Requirements:

• Minimum level 75;
• Skinning: minimum 385 skill;
• Skinning knife;

Where to go:

Teleport to Dalaran and fly to Gundrak (71,22) in Zul’Drak.

What to do:

Start grinding on the Gundrak Raptors (level 77), found around (71,23) and (83,32).

They have an excellent drop rate for Borean Leather and they also can drop the Gundrak Hatchling, a vanity pet that has quite a high value.

Out of all the hatchlings that can be found in the game, this one has the lowest drop rate.

It’s very hard to get and it can easily be sold for 2-3000g. Do not expect it to drop every time, in fact, to get it you’re going to spend several hours here. However, even if it doesn’t drop, you will still get plenty of Borean Leather and occasionally Arctic Fur.

Loot: 

I didn’t find the hatchling this skinning session, but I did get the following valuable loot in 1 hour:

Borean Leather x 293 = 60g/stack = 879g
Arctic Fur x 2 = 10g/each = 20g
Green Item x 2 = 50g/each =100g

Cash (after selling the trash loot): 49g

TOTAL: 1048g in one hour

Tips:

The Gundrak Raptors have a leap attack and they will probably use it on you, even if you have a pet attacking them. Try not to kill them while they are in the air because this way their corpses get bugged and become impossible to loot.

I usually don’t come to farm here, unless the stack of Borean Leather has a higher price than 30g, and I recommend you to do the same. However, at times, a stack of Borean Leather can rise up to 100g.
