Even though this isn’t exactly a method to make a lot of gold, it’s still a good gold making method for a low level character, especially if you don’t have any high levels on a particular server. Not only that Tin Ore is typically on high demand and you will be able to sell it fast, its price can spike sometimes and can even go up to 50-60g per stack when there’s a shortage.
Here’s one of the best mining routes in World of Warcraft for Tin Ore.
Requirements:
- Minimum level 40;
- Mining: minimum 65 skill;
- Epic ground mount;
- The Gatherer Addon (optional);
Where to go:
If you play Horde, teleport to Undercity and fly to Tarren Mill (55,45) in Hillsbrad Foothills.
If you play Alliance, it’s a bit harder to get to this place since it’s a Horde zone, but it’s the best place for Tin Ore. So, Teleport to Ironforge, fly to Aerie Peak (12,46) in the Hinterlands and from there go West into Hillsbrad Foothills.
What to do:
Your main objective for this route is to gather Tin Ore. The best area and the best route you can follow is to run around the plateau upon which the Ruins of Alterac (47,29) are found. If you have an epic flying mount it’s going to be even better, since you’ll get the Tin Veins on top of the hills. However, even if you miss those, you’ll still get plenty.
The map should speak for itself. However, don’t forget to check the yeti cave at (47,54). You’ll always find at least 2-3 nodes inside. Beware of Yetimus (25 lvl elite) that roams in front of the cave, though. If you’re low level it may kill you. Also, if you have a flying mount, check the ogre cave in the middle of Ruins of Alterac, at Crushridge Hold (51,26). This one is also crammed with Tin Ore.
Loot:
After 30 min., using only an epic ground mount, following this route, I managed to gather the following valuables:
Tin Ore x 168 = 30g/stack = 252g
Coarse Stone x 145 = 3g/stack = 21g
Lesser Moonstone x 4 = 8g/each = 32g
Moss Agate x 2 = 6g/each = 12g
Shadowgem x 1 = 10g
Jade x 1 = 5g
TOTAL: 332g after 30 minutes of mining.
Tips:
If you have a skilled jewelcrafter, you can prospect the Tin Ore into the following gems: Jades, Moss Agates, Aquamarines, Shadowgems, Citrines and Lesser Moonstones. Depending of the prices, you can get better profits by selling the gems.
Occasionally you can find Silver Veins. To mine Silver Ore, you need 75 skill in Mining. Anyway, even if you come here with a minimum of 65 skill, after 10-15 Tin Veins you’ll be eligible for Silver as well.
If you find this area uncomfortable for gathering Tin Ore, because you play an Alliance character, there’s a good alternative for Tin Ore in Stonetalon Mountains. However, that zone is less accessible than Hillsbrad, and you’ll definitely need an epic flying mount to be effective there. Therefore, even if you play Alliance, I still recommend this place because it’s literally stuffed with Tin Ore.
