There are only two main types of minerals in WoW Dragonflight – Draconium Ore (uncommon) and Serevite Ore (common), unlike herbs, which are four (Bubble Poppy, Hochenblume, Saxifrage, and Writhebark). You can gather a pretty hefty amount of ore in each one of the Dragonflight zones. However, the main problem is aggro; most areas that hold multiple mineral nodes are also packed with mobs, sometimes elites.
The following mining route in The Waking Shores focuses on several areas with a high concentration of minerals featuring fewer and easier-to-defeat mobs.
Requirements:
- Dragonflight Mining
- Mining Pick
- At least 5 Dragonflight Vigor
- GatherMate2 addon (optional)
Where to go:
The Waking Shores is the starter Dragonflight zone, with the main NPC hub at Wingrest Embassy. Thus, you can start your mining sessions from here, or from Skytop Observatory. Both these areas are on this mining route.
What to do:
Follow the route above and gather all the Draconium Deposits and “buffed” (Primal, Hardened, Molten, Titan-Touched, Infurious, etc) Serevite Deposits that you can find.
Skip the plain Serevite Deposits, or pick them up only if they’re easily accessible, nearby a Draconium or buffed Serevite Deposit.
- The areas with the highest concentrations of mineral deposits on this route are:
- The western part of Skytop Observatory – at around (71, 55)
- The area NW of Wingrest Embassy – at around (76, 30)
- The area south of Scalecracker Keep – at around (63, 28)
- The area around Life-Binder Conservatory (52, 22) and the peaks south of it
- The Overflowing Sping plateau (53, 48)
- The area between Ruby Life Pools and Skytop Observatory, at around (65, 55)
On this route, I found several Rock Walls. Here are their locations:
- (64, 48)
- (71.7, 58.7)
- (71, 66)
- (48.7, 57.3)
- And one off the route, at (63.7, 48)
Rock Walls don’t always hide resources, but sometimes you can find up to three mineral deposits up behind one. Thus, always check what’s behind them.
Of course, the area at Dragonbane Keep (27, 57) also has multiple possible spawning points for mineral deposits (especially Draconium). However, there is quite a lot of aggro here and some mobs can shoot you off your dragon which is pretty inconvenient.
Loot:
After one hour of mining following this route in The Waking Shores, I got the following valuables:
- Draconium Ore x 118
- Serevite Ore x 252
- Salt Deposit x 31
- Khaz’gorite Ore x 23
- Rousing Ire x 14
- Rousing Order x 33
- Rousing Fire x 88
- Rousing Earth x 47
Depending on your Mining skill, spec, and mining gear, you may get more or less ore of different qualities, as well as other crafting materials that can drop from mineral nodes. The amount above was gathered with minimal Mining skill and gear, and with only 5 Dragonflight Vigor.
Tips:
If your Mining skill isn’t maxed, it’s never a bad idea to cap Mining Process first. Once you have 35 points in this Mining Trait, you can mine without dismounting. Plus, you also get a lot of extra Deftness.
Even though you have your dragon mount for flying, Goblin Glider Kits can be extremely useful when gathering resources. Especially if you can’t mine while mounted, they can help ditch aggro or hostile players if you’re high above ground level.
