The new area introduced in patch 10.0.7 – the Forbidden Reach – is an excellent area for Mining. Although it doesn’t hold copious amounts of Draconium Deposits, it sure is rich in Molten, Hardened, and Primal Serevite Deposits. This makes it a great place for gathering Rousing Fire and Rousing Earth via mining.
Requirements:
- Dragonflight Mining
- Mining Pick
- Mastering the Elements trait unlocked
- GatherMate2 addon (optional)
Where to go:
Fly to the Forbidden Reach in the northeastern area of the Dragon Isles. If you haven’t been there yet, the quest that introduces you to this new area starts at Kurazidaia (61, 26), up at The Seat of the Aspects in Valdrakken.
What to do:
Start mining all the Serevite Deposits and Draconium Deposits that you can find. The highest concentration of mineral deposits is in the median area of the island.
There are several areas that you should regularly check. These are:
- The thermal lake at the Caldera of the Menders (42, 36);
- The Lost Atheneum (54, 43);
- The area in front of the Froststone Vault, at around (58, 42);
- Stormsunder Crater (69, 58);
- Talonlord’s Perch (58, 63);
- The area in front of the War Creche, at around (52, 56)
It’s important to note that the highest concentration of buffed mineral deposits is around the lake at Caldera of the Menders (42, 36) (photo above). Therefore, whenever you have your Overload Elemental Deposit ability up, head straight there. There’s a high chance to find at least one Molten, Primal, or Hardened Ore deposit up, so you can use the ability on it for extra Rousing essences.
Loot:
After one hour of mining in Forbidden Reach, following the route above, I got the following valuables:
- Serevite Ore x 554
- Draconium Ore x 65
- Khaz’gorite Ore x 15
- Salt Deposit x 50
- Rousing Fire x 222
- Rousing Earth x 182
- Rousing Order x 7
- Rousing Air x 7
- Rousing Frost x 1
- Rousing Ire x 19
For this particular run, I’ve used only T5 green mining gear. Also, I’ve had 130 Knowledge Points spent in Mastering the Elements and its sub-traits (20 in each). Plus, of course, Mining Process at 35, to be able to mine while mounted.
Tips:
The Forbidden Reach is packed full of mobs quite a bit stronger than in the rest of the Dragon Isles. Thus, having extra Deftness when mining here really helps. So, using Aerated Phials of Deftness can be a plus. These are BoP phials and can be acquired via Crafting Orders.
While mining in the Forbidden Reach, you have a small chance of finding Amplified Quaking Stones in some of the ore deposits. These can be used on the Rumbling Deposits found throughout the island. Here are some of the Rumbling Deposits locations:
/way 78.68 35.25
/way 57.15 72.11
/way 74.72 36.14
/way 45.28 42.87
/way 43.26 48.87
