The World of Warcraft patch 10.2 brings to the game a new zone – The Emerald Dream. Mining-wise, this is a great zone to farm Draconium Ore due to the higher concentration of Draconium Deposits and the possibility of extracting more ore from the buffed nodes. However, compared to other zones released so far in Dragonflight, such as Forbidden Reach or Zaralek Cavern, the Emerald Dream is not too great in terms of gathering Rousing elements via mining (at least not so far).
So, here’s a mining route in the Emerald Dream focusing on the spots with the most Draconium Ore Deposits.
Dragon Isles Mining
Mastering the Elements trait unlocked (optional)
GatherMate2 addon (optional)
Where to go:
Teleport to Valdrakken in Thaldraszus and use the portal at (62, 57) to teleport to the Central Encampment at Amirdrassil (48, 60) in the Emerald Dream. From there, go northwest to The Smoldering Copse. This should be your starting point for your mining session.
What to do:
Start mining all the Draconium Ore Deposits and Serevite Ore Deposits that you can find, following the route on the map above.
Occasionally, you will find ore deposits with the “Living” buff. When mined, these will spawn an earth elemental that can also be mined for extra ore. You can also use the Overload Elemental Deposit ability on the Living Draconium Deposits and Living Serevite Deposits. However, this way the earth elemental mob won’t spawn and it’s a higher chance to get only a few T1 pieces of ore and only 2-3 Rousing elements. So, at least for now, it’s a better idea to just mine the Living deposits and get as many much extra ore by mining the spawning elemental, rather than overloading them.
The area also has a consistent spawn rate for Infurious Ore deposits, so it’s actually a better choice to save your Overload Elemental Deposit ability for these.
After an hour of mining in The Emerald Dream by following this route, I got:
- Serevite Ore x 487
- Draconium Ore x 433
- Khaz’gorite Ore x 51
- Salt Deposit x 44
- Rousing Fire x 8
- Rousing Earth x 3
- Rousing Frost x 4
- Rousing Ire x 76
- … and a bunch of gems.
The mining gear on the character I used for this mining session was T5 – blue, its mining skill was capped, with all the Mining Traits maxed out.
To get at least three mining interactions with the Living Serevite or Living Draconium elemental spawning from the Living ore deposits, it’s best to clear the trash mobs around it and make sure you are mounted before you mine the Living deposit. The elemental runs pretty fast and cannot be stunned or crowd-controlled (at least not for now). I’m not sure if these mobs can be mined more than three times; so far, I haven’t been able to mine one more than three times.
Aerated Phial of Deftness does not help with the mining speed of the Living Elementals. However, it’s a good idea to use these flasks for general mining in the area. This mining route is packed with rather numerous and tough mobs. Being able to mine a node quickly and then fly away before aggro dismounts you, is a plus.
Aerated Phials of Deftness, as well as other flasks for gathering, are BoP. They can only be acquired via Crafting Orders.
The Emerald Dream is the last zone required for the Dragon Isles Pathfinder. Completing this achievement gives you the possibility to use a regular flying mount in the Dragon Isles. So, completing the achievement before starting your gathering sessions here can be quite helpful. In case you run out of Vigor on your dragon, you can quickly swap onto the regular flying mount and make it easily and quickly to any nearby ore deposits, avoiding aggro and even beating other players to them.
