The Azure Span isn’t exactly the best zone for mining. That’s because there’s quite a bit of distance between the areas with the highest concentration of ore nodes. Also, as of patch 10.1, Zaralek Cavern is everyone’s mining destination since it’s the only zone (at least for now) where you can get Zaralek Glowspores.
But nonetheless, if you want to choose The Azure Span as your mining destination, here’s an optimized route that you can follow, a route covering the areas that hold the most possible Draconium Ore Deposit and Serevite Ore Deposit spawn points.
Requirements:
- Dragon Isles Mining
- Mastering the Elements trait unlocked
- GatherMate2 addon (optional)
Where to go:
One of the areas with the most ore nodes in The Azure Span is the Drake Hatchery (29, 29), so this is the best spot to start your mining session. The closest FP to the Drake Hatchery is at Ohn’iri Springs (57, 76), in the Ohn’ahran Plains. So, fly there, then use your drake to fly south into The Azure Span at the Drake Hatchery.
What to do:
Start gathering all the Serevite Ore and Draconium Ore Deposits that you can find following the route on the map above. The areas with the highest concentration of ore deposits are the following:
- The Drake Hatchery (29, 29) – inside the cave and all around the plateaus above the cave.
- Brackenhide Waterhole (23, 41).
- Imbu (58, 67).
- Lost Ruins (69, 45) and the area around this location.
- Vakthros (75, 37)
You can also visit the areas at Brackenhide Hollow and Cobalt Assembly. However, these areas are packed with elite mobs. Even if you can tackle 2-3 at once, you’ll waste time defeating them. Also, at Brackenhide Hollow, many ore nodes spawn in caves, so you’ll have to dismount to collect them.
Loot:
After one hour of mining on this route in The Azure Span, I got the following valuables:
- Serevite Ore x 542
- Draconium Ore x 137
- Khaz’gorite Ore x 32
- Salt Deposit x 52
- Rousing Fire x 89
- Rousing Earth x 199
- Rousing Order x 75
- Rousing Air x 12
- Rousing Frost x 29
- Rousing Ire x 28
- Glowing Titan Orb x 3
For this mining session, I used blue (T5) gathering gear. All my mining traits were capped.
It’s important to note, that Glowing Titan Orbs can only drop if you have 40 Knowledge Points into the mining trait Titan Touched. I also got a few green gems but left them out of the loot table as their value is really low.
Tips:
If the world quest “Seeing through the Enemy: Nezascar” is up at the Drake Hatchery, it may not be such a great idea to choose The Azure Span as your mining destination. That’s because this location has the most mineral deposits, and all the players coming here for the quest will keep the area clean.
When trying to build up Vigor, it’s a good idea to avoid stopping for regular Serevite nodes. So, when you’re low on Vigor, only stop for buffed nodes or Draconium ore.
This mining route overlaps with the Azure Span Treasure Route that we’ve already covered here. So, it’s a good idea to have some Sturdy Expedition Shovels and keep an eye out for Disturbed Dirt or Expedition Scout’s Packs.
