With all the Heirlooms and XP boosts nowadays, players quickly go through the first 60 levels without spending too much in the low level zones of the game. Thus, low level resources such as Silver, Copper and Tin Ore, or Peacebloom, Earthroot, Mageroyal and Briarthorn, are sometimes hard to find in AH.
Now, each alchemist requires at least 20-30 of one of the herbs mentioned above, in order to skill up. And most of them would rather buy the amount they need rather than go gather them. Due to these facts, prices for these resources are quite high sometimes. Therefore, you can make a nice amount in little time, and with minimum effort.
So, here’s a spot where you can quickly gather Briarthorn and Mageroyal.
Requirements
- Minimum level 25;
- Herbalism: minimum 70 skill;
- At least the normal ground mount.
Where to go
If you play Horde, teleport to Undercity or take the zeppelin to Tirisfal Glades, then fly to Eastpoint Tower (62,64), in Hillsbrad Foothills.
If you play Alliance, teleport to Ironforge and fly to Aerie Peak (12,46) in Hinterlands. From there follow the road South-West into Hillsbrad Foothills. You will enter this zone at (70,55), behind Durnholde Keep.
Or, you can teleport to Twilight Highlands, at Highbank or Dragonmaw Port, and from there fly to the mentioned locations above, then head to Hillsbrad.
What to do
Start gathering all the herbs you see, in the southeastern corner of the zone, between the river and the border with Arathi Highlands. The map should speak for itself. You don’t have to follow any particular route, the zone is packed with Briarthorn and Mageroyal.
However, make sure that, from time to time you visit the back of Durnholde Keep and also the river bank, especially if you come here with a high level character, with a flying mount.
Loot
Within 30 min. of gathering, I managed to get over 150 Briarthorn and Mageroyal. However, I’ve been playing a level 100 Druid, with fast flying, which made gathering easier. But even with a lower level character, you should be able to get quite a nice amount.
Briarthorn x 153 = 7g / each = 1071g
Mageroyal x 173 = 3g / each = 519g
Swiftthistle x 84 = 3g / each = 252g
Bruiseweed x 12 = 5g / each = 60g
TOTAL: 1902g after 30 minutes of gathering.
Tips
If you play Alliance, a good alternative for these two herbs, in an Alliance friendly zone, is Wetlands. But since this is the best spot in the game for these herbs, I recommend that you come here. Anyway, keep away from the Eastpoint Tower so you don’t get aggro the adds, if you bring on a low level toon.
Bruiseweed is also a valuable plant that is not that easily found as Mageroyal and Briarthorn. If you want more Bruiseweed, a good place is at the Ruins of Alterac, around (47,28). There are loads of ogres here, so you should bring a higher level character.
Since most players require 20-30 pieces of each herb in order to get to a higher skill, it’s best to sell these herbs in stacks of 10, 20, or 30.
Last but not least, if you have competition, or simply pick up the herbs too fast, don’t hesitate to hop servers, using the Premade Group feature. By joining a premade group from a different server, there’s a good chance you will find the herbs at full spawn.
