Zul’Farrak is one of the best places in WoW Classic for farming Mageweave Cloth, as well as green items within a 36-44 level range, and crafting recipes. Also, since most of the mobs in the dungeon are elite, you have a higher chance of scoring nice epic BoE items.
Requirements:
- Minimum level 65 character
- AoE build (and some AoE CC)
Where to go:
Zul’Farrak is a dungeon located in the northwestern side of Tanaris. So, whether you play Alliance or Horde, fly to Gadgetzan (50, 28) in Tanaris, and from there go west to Zul’Farrak. The dungeon’s entrance is at (38.7, 20.0).
What to do:
First of all, you’re not going to clear the whole instance. That’s because most of the mobs in Zul’Farrak are difficult to stack; many are ranged and have nasty effects like unbreakable Polymorph or Hex, stuns, etc, which can make big pulls difficult to control and clear even with a 70+ character.
The mobs you’re going to kill are the Zul’Farrak Zombies and Zul’Farrak Dead Heroes, found in the Shallow Graves, in the area where the Witch Doctor Zum’rah boss is located. The map below shows the location inside the instance.
Note: The dungeons in the WoW Classic zones don’t have in-game maps (at least not for now), so we’ve used the map of the retail WoW Zul’Farrak. It is pretty much the same.
So, what you need to do is enter Zul’Farrak, mount up, and ride to Witch Doctor Zum’rah’s chamber. If you get any aggro on the way, stop and kill them before you reach this farm location.
Once in Zum’rah’s chamber, click on the Shallow Graves, defeat all the mobs that come out, then loot their corpses. The empty Shallow Graves are also lootable, so once you clear the mobs, loot the graves too.
The Zul’Farrak Zombies and other mobs that come out from the graves are pretty tough. Even with a level 70+ character, you can still die here, so it’s best to get them in 2-3 pulls.
Once you’re done with the mobs and with the graves, run out, reset the instance, and repeat.
One run shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes, so you’ll probably have a lockout (5 runs) in less than an hour.
Loot:
After 5 ZF runs, I got the following loot:
- Mageweave Cloth x 216
- Silk Cloth x 142
- Green Item x 25
- Flask of Mojo x 20
- Superior Healing Potion x 13
Each run should grant you approx. 4-5g, while the total gold (after selling all the trash loot) at the end of one full session (5 runs) should be around 50-55g.
On my last run, I was also lucky enough to get the Nightblade and The Green Tower shield which sold for 150g each. But even without them, you can still get a total gold value of at least 4-500g after five runs. This being said, it’s still a WoW gold farming method especially if you need a quick couple of hundred gold for your flying skill, mount, secondary spec, etc.
Tips:
Make sure you have at least four empty bags before starting a Zul’Farrak dungeon farming session. After 2-3 runs, your inventory should be full or close to full. So, either destroy some of the gray, low-value items or make a run to Tanaris and sell the trash loot.
It’s best to loot the vacant graves right after you finish with the mobs as sometimes they may disappear if they’re not looted quickly. This also can happen if you die and run back in. The zombies will be up while the graves will be gone.
If you have Enchanting, you can Disenchant some of the green items for dusts, essences, and shards, and even craft item enchantments from them. Sometimes you’ll get a better return this way. You’ll get Dream Dust, Vision Dust, Lesser Nether Essences, Greater Nether Essences, Large Radiant Shards, and Small Radiant Shards from these items. You’ll need approx. 175 Enchanting skill to be able to DE all green items you’ll get from Zul’Farrak.
If you have Tailoring and the Northern Cloth Scavenging skill, you should get more Mageweave Cloth and Silk Cloth.
