WotLK Classic – Dragonblight Skinning Spot – Nerubian Chitin & Borean Leather Scraps

by Leave a Comment

Nerubians are some of the best mobs to skin in WotLK classic. That’s because you get Nerubian Chitin from them along with the Borean Leather, Borean Leather Scraps, and occasionally Arctic Fur. Plus, most of them also drop coins and Frostweave Cloth, while the average beasts don’t.

So, in this post, we’re going to point out one of the best low-level skinning spots with Nerubians in WotLK Classic.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Skinning Skill 355
  • Minimum Character Level 71
  • Skinning Knife

Where to go:

First of all, this Skinning spot is at Icemist Village (25, 40), just above Azjol Nerub, in Dragonblight.

The closest Flight Paths to this spot are at Stars Rest (29, 55) for Alliance and at Agmar’s Hammer (37, 46) for Horde. So, if you have your faction’s corresponding FP unlocked, just fly there from Borean Tundra, then northwest to Icemist Village.

If you haven’t reached Dragonblight yet, the quickest way to get here is to take the zeppelin or the ship to Borean Tundra and follow the road east into Dragonblight.

What to do:

Once you’re at Icemist Village, kill all the Anub’ar Slayer Nerubians, loot their corpses, and skin them. You’ll get Borean Leather Scraps, Nerubian Chitin, and Arctic Fur (you should get 1-3 Arctic Fur per hour, here). They do not drop Borean Leather, though, like most WotLK Classic 70-72 level beasts, only scraps.

The Anub’ar Slayers have a fairly decent respawn rate. You can circle the camp starting with the ones on the top level, then get the ones on the lower level, on the southern side of the village. This way, you shouldn’t run out of mobs. You should also be able to pull them in groups of 4-6; they don’t run away at low HP, and they’re easy to stack. However, if you play a low-level (71-72) character, you’ll need good gear as they have a DOT that stacks which will erode your HP pretty quickly.

Loot:

After one hour of skinning the Anub’ar Nerubians at Icemist Village in Dragonblight, it got the following loot:

  • Borean Leather Scraps x 319
  • Nerubian Chitin x 43
  • Arctic Fur x 3
  • Frostweave Cloth x 41
  • Green Item x 5
  • Gold after selling the trash loot ~ 60g

Tips:

If your Skinning skill is just barely over the minimum required of 355 for this spot, you should be able to reach the WotLK Classic 450 Skinning skill cap here within one hour, one hour and a half tops.

If you have Leatherworking, you can use some of the Nerubian Chitins to craft Nerubian Leg Armor enchantments. These sell pretty well and they’re great for leveling gear.

You can also turn some of the scraps into Borean Leather and Heavy Borean Leather. You may get better profits if you’re going to sell those, rather than sell the scraps.
