Recipe farming in WoW can bring you a lot of gold, if of course, you’re going after the right crafting recipes. And when it comes to expensive WoW recipes, the Crusader enchantment formula stands high on that list. That’s because it’s rather rare, and people typically lose their patience when farming for it. So, here’s the place to farm this nice recipe, which usually sells for 2-3000g. This is actually one of the best low level farming spots in WoW.
Requirements:
- A minimum level 43 character.
Where to go:
Teleport to Undercity (Horde) or Ironforge (Alliance), and fly to Light’s Hope Chapel in Eastern Plaguelands. From there, go south-east to Tyr’s Hand.
Also, if you have a Death Knight, you can use your Death Gate ability to teleport to Acherus: The Ebon Hold, and from there either use your flying mount to go directly to Tyr’s Hand, or take a flight to Light’s Hope Chapel, then go to Tyr’s Hand.
What to do:
You’ll find various mobs at Tyr’s Hand, but not all of them drop the Formula: Enchant Weapon – Crusader. The only ones who do are the Scarlet Archmages. They can only be found at the upper yard of the camp, and inside the big cathedral. So, start grinding on them, do a full clear and then either wait for them to spawn, or go to the lower yard and clear that area for additional loot.
Make sure you kill all the mobs in the upper yard though, not just the Scarlet Archmages. Most of the mobs share the same respawn, and on the next pop, you may get one or two extra archmages.
Regarding the Crusader formula, don’t expect it to drop on the first few pulls. It doesn’t have such a high drop rate. However, is not as rare as any other items in the game. In some cases I managed to get 2-3 recipes in an hour of farming, or so.
Loot:
On my last farming session for the Formula: Enchant Weapon – Crusader, I got the following loot, within 1 hour of farming. The recipe dropped after about 35 minutes of farming. In other words, 5-7 full clears of the upper yard.
So, this was the loot:
Formula: Enchant Weapon – Crusader x 1 = 2000g
Pattern: Big Voodoo Mask x 1 = 300g
Pattern: Guardian Leather Bracers x 1 = 20g
Essence of Undeath x 9 = 5g/each = 45g
Mageweave Cloth x 165 = 30g/stack = 247g
Silk Cloth x 81 = 40g/stack = 162g
Green Item x 8 = 100g each = 800g
Blue Item x 1 = 90g
Total: 3664g after one hour of farming.
Tips:
Some of the green items that I got from here went for 5-600g, but in general, I auction them for 50-100g, to make sure they sell fast. However, some of the good looking ones can go for as much as 1000-1500g.
You can create a level 55 Death Knight, do the intro content to get your abilities and gain access to the normal world content, and keep that Death Knight logged here, for the sole purpose of farming this recipe. Simply log in, clear the camp 1-2 times when you feel like it, and get a recipe from time to time, an easy way to get a 2-3000g in a few minutes, with a bit of luck, of course.
The Crusader enchantment is one of the best melee weapon enchantments for Heirlooms. Even though since 5.4 you can apply Mongoose on Heirloom weapons, many still prefer Crusader, since it also gives a little heal, along with the strength proc.
Crusader enchantment scrolls sell for 350-400g depending on server. So, if you have an enchanter, and don’t own this recipe, you might as well learn it yourself, to craft and sell Crusader scrolls. The materials are typically cheap.
