Almost each World of Warcraft event or in-game festival offers the possibility to get at least a few achievements and collectibles, such as transmog gear, toys or battle pets. Needless to say, some of this stuff can be sold for a lot of gold.
Midsummer Fire Festival which just started today, comes with such an opportunity. I’m talking about the battle pets Spirit of Summer and Frigid Frostling, two very cool and rather powerful combat pets. Both these pets can also be caged and sold for a nice amount of gold.
Now, there’s some farming to be done, in order to obtain these pets. So, here’s what you require and must do in order to obtain them.
Requirements
- Level 100;
- At least Expert Riding skill;
- Flight Master’s License;
- Cold Weather Flying;
- Wisdom of the Four Winds.
Spirit of Summer
First of all, the Spirit of Summer battle pet is taught by an item called Captured Flame. This item is sold by the Summer Fest specific NPCs, which can be found in both factions’ major cities. You’ll find a Midsummer Supplier at (49,72) in Stormwind City, and a Midsummer Merchant (47,38) in Orgrimmar. The Captured Flame item costs 350 Burning Blossoms, the Midsummer Fire Festival specific currency.
In order to gather Burning Blossoms, all you have to do is repeatedly complete the quests Honor the Flame! and Desecrate this Fire! , by extinguishing the bonfires of the opposite faction in various zones in Azeroth, Cataclysm, Outland, Northrend and Pandaria. Burning Blossoms are also contained in the Satchel of Chilled Goods, dropped by Ahune, the Frost Lord, in the Midsummer Fire Festival special Slave Pens dungeon.
Frigid Frostling
This battle pet has a small chance of dropping from Ahune, the Frost Lord. You can only receive loot from this boss once a day, and the boss is available only for the duration of Midsummer Fire Festival. In order to defeat the boss, just join the dungeon queue, for Lord Ahune.
The Frigid Frostling is taught by an item called Ice Chip, which can be contained in the Satchel of Chilled Goods dropped by this boss. Just like the previous pet, it’s cageable, but in general more expensive.
Tips
The pets sell for at least 5-6000g. However, due to the fact that many players will farm these pets for the period of the festival, their price will probably decrease. That’s why it’s a good idea to keep yours and sell them a few months after the festival, when the Auction House on your server is clear of them.
Evidenly, if the price for these pets drops under 2-300g, it’s not a bad idea to buy a few and sell them later when the price will increase up to a couple of thousand gold. This actually goes for just about any battle pets that can be obtained from a WoW event.
If you have several top level characters, and of course, the time to farm 350 blossoms on each one of them, do that and get several pets. Also, farm Lord Ahune for Frigid Frostlings. These are rather rare, and their price can reach up to 10000g.
