Dragonflight – Tallstrider Sinew Farming Route

Tallstrider Sinew is a currency for numerous cosmetics such as the Obsidian Wing Glaive or the Obsidian Spellcarver’s Stave, as well as a reagent for several Dragonflight crafts. It’s dropped by tallstriders found throughout the Dragon Isles, and its drop rate isn’t that high. Also, there aren’t many spots in WoW where you can farm tallstriders consistently. So, here’s a route for farming Tallstrider Sinew in Ohn’Ahran Plains.

Requirements:

• At least a level 61 character
• Dragonriding unlocked
• Dragon Isles Skinning (optional)

Note: Tallstrider birds are skinnable. Therefore, by farming sinews with a skinner character you can get plenty of additional valuable loot. However, Skinning is not necessary for obtaining Tallstrider Sinews; these are regular drops.

Where to go:

Fly to Ohn’Ahran Plains and start your tallstrider farming session in the area around (77, 22).

What to do:

Kill all the Swift Hornstrider and Hornstrider Chicks that you can find, moving between the four areas marked on this map. The coordinates for these locations are (77, 22), (78, 56), (68, 52), (67, 33).

The tallstriders’ respawn rate isn’t too great, but moving from one location to another, you should always find them up.

Although the Hornstrider Chicks have a lower drop rate for Tallstrider Sinew, they still drop it. However, they don’t drop usable scales or other reagents through skinning, so, you don’t need to skin those.

After one hour of grinding following this route, I got the following valuables:

• Bite-Sized Morsel x 208
• Exceptional Morsel x 8
• Maybe Meat x 65
• Adamant Scales x 421
• Resilient Leather x 37
• Lustrous Scaled Hide x 9
• Dense Hide x 6
• Contoured Foulfeather x 7
• Rousing Order x 34
• Gold after selling the trash loot: ~720g

The character I used for this run had most of its Skinning Traits capped (except Meat Carver). Its skinning gear was T5, blue.

The Hornstriders don’t drop Rousing Order; the amount I got was by using the Skinner’s ability from Bait Crafter. These birds drop only Adamant Scales when skinned; the Resilient Leather I got was from additional aggro. I also got numerous Curiously-Shaped Stomachs with the Harvesting trait capped. The most valuable loot from the stomachs were 17 x Chromatic Dust and 5 x Vibrant Shard.

Tips:

If you’re also going to use a skinner to farm Tallstrider Sinew, it’s a great idea to use your Creature Bait at (77,22). The summoned creature I got around this location was often a tallstrider, which also has a chance to drop a sinew.

The drop rate for Tallstrider Sinew seems to have been buffed after 10.1. Before this patch, I was only able to get 6-7 per hour by following this route.

Windblessed Ohuna, Sunwing Ohuna, and other Dragon Isles eagles can be found on this route. You can also kill them and skin them for their Windsong Plumage.
