Glowing Titan Orbs are crafting reagents for several items, such as the Alacritous Alchemist Stone or Shield of the Earth, as well as for item enchantments like Wafting Devotion or Sophic Devotion. They drop from various elites at Tyrhold, but they don’t have a super high drop rate. Thus, they can be sold for a fairly decent price at the Auction House (at least for now).
Requirements:
- Level 70 character
- At least 350 iLevel gear
Where to go:
From Valdrakken, fly east to Tyrhold (58, 58).
What to do:
Kill all the Custodial Protectors, Malfunctioning Protectors, and Tyrhold Watchers that you can find here and loot their corpses. Maiden of Patience, Maiden of Diligence, and the rare elite Ancient Protector also drop Glowing Titan Orbs.
It’s important to note that these elite mobs are pretty tough. Even with 350 iLevel gear, you can still have trouble killing them, if you play a squishy class. They’re also immune to taunt, slow, and pretty much any type of crowd control effect, which can be problematic, especially for ranged classes.
If there are groups of players farming on the mobs at Tyrhold, you might consider joining one. Or, at least leech on the mobs tagged by other non-grouped members of your faction.
Playing with Warmode “ON” in this area can also be problematic. You’ll definitely encounter many opposite faction players who may attack you just when you’ve pulled an elite. PvP is indeed fun, but if you’ll have to fight more players than mobs, your farming session won’t exactly be productive.
Loot:
During this particular one-hour farming session on the elites at Tyrhold, it got 6 Glowing Titan Orbs. However, on other sessions, I got only 2-3, while the best one-hour session granted me 8 orbs. Thus, it should be pretty safe to say that you can get around 4-5 orbs per hour, especially if there isn’t too much competition.
Apart from the orbs, you won’t get too many other valuable items from the Tyrhold elites. During this particular run, I got two green items, and trash loot with a vendor value of approx. 250g.
Tips:
The farming on the Tyrhold elites can go a lot smoother if you’re on the quest “The Magic Within“. The quest giver grants you an item – Tyrhold Conduit – which you can use on the Tyrhold elites to stun and damage them for approx. 30% of their HP.
“The Magic Within” quest is part of “The Silver Purpose” storyline. In order to access this storyline, you’ll need at least Renown Level 12 with the Valdrakken Accord. The first quest in the chain is “Ally of Dragons”. The quest giver is Herald Flaps.
If there’s an Elemental Storm at Tyrhold, you can get much more from your farming session here. That’s because there will be many players and groups going on. Killing mobs here during an Elemental Storm, you’ll get Elemental Overflow from them, which is a currency for various gear pieces and cosmetics.
