With the level cap moved from 90 to 100 in Warlords of Draenor, Isle of Giants has become quite a viable farming spot. All the tough elites on this island are now pretty easy to take down with any class. They all drop Giant Dinosaur Bones, and luckily, this currency can be sold at the Auction House.
What’s so special about these bones? Well, with 9,999 of them you can complete the quest A Mountain of Giant Dinosaur Bones which grants you a pretty cool, ground mount – Reins of the Bone-White Primal Raptor.
Now, since the island is normally packed with players of both factions, on most servers there’s a gank-fest here. That’s why most players give up after gathering a couple of thousands of bones, and are willing to pay for the rest they need. And that’s why these bones still have a good AH price on most servers.
So, here’s the gold making potential of this spot.
Requirements:
- Level 100 character;
- Potion of Luck (optional);
- Minimum 600 Skinning skill (optional).
Where to go:
In case you have the flight path of Isle of Giants discovered, simply travel to Pandaria from Stormwind City or Orgrimmar, and then fly to this island. If you do not have this FP discovered, you should fly to Zouchin Village in Kun-Lai Summit, and from there use your flying mount and fly north, across the water, until your reach Isle of Giants.
What to do:
Once on the island, start killing every elite mob that you can find up. Direhorns, devilsaurs, pterrorwings, and Zandalari Dinomancers, all of them drop bones.
Using a character with skinning is quite a plus, since all the dinosaurs on the island are skinnable. They drop 2x Exotic Leather each, so you will be able to get plenty. Even if you miss a certain group of mobs, because someone else has tagged them first, you’ll still end up with something. Potions of Luck are also useful here, as you will get some extra cash and resources.
You can get various pets from most of the mobs on this island, such as the Zandalari Kneebiter, or Direhorn Runt. But since the island has become a crowded farming ground, the prices for these pets have drastically dropped lately.
Loot:
After one hour of farming on Isle of Giants, considering that there were about 10 other players here, I’ve got:
Giant Dinosaur Bone x 1,538 = 1350g / stack = 2,078g
Exotic Leather x 313 = 1g / each = 313g
Windwool Cloth x 67 = 150g / stack = 50g
Black Trillium Ore x 9 = 5g / each = 45g
Ghost Iron Ore x 9 = 2g / each = 18g
Red Blossom Leek x 62 = 2g / each = 124g
Juicycrunch Carrot x 34 = 1g / each = 34g
Zandalari Footlasher x 1 = 300g
Green Item x 5 = 80g / each = 400g
Cash (after selling the trash loot) = 187g
Total: 3,549g after one hour.
Tips:
From time to time, visit the Zandalari ship at (79,81). The main deck of the ship is the spawning point of an elite rare boss – War-God Dokah. Among other stuff, he can drop a Big Bag of Zandalari Supplies, which can contain a lot of valuable stuff.
Even though the pets that you can get from the mobs on Isle of Giants sell for low prices, you can still sell them for up to 1,000g, if you level them up to 25. And nowadays, with the possibility to buy Flawless Battle-Training Stones from your Garrison, you can level a pet to 25 instantly, or at least use 5-6 stones for its final levels.
