Many players waste a lot of time farming reputation or dungeons for who knows what rare patterns and recipes, to be able to craft neat armor pieces. However, you don’t even need to craft and sell any armor as a leatherworker to make some fat profits.
As a leatherworker you can considerably increase the price of various types of leather, simply by crafting superior leather out of it. I’m talking here about Heavy Knothide Leather, Heavy Borean Leather and Heavy Savage Leather. The price of one piece of each type of superior leather mentioned here is typically much higher than its materials, sometimes even 2-3 times higher.
So, basically all you have to do is purchase a couple of stacks of Knothide Leather, Savage Leather and / or Borean Leather, turn them into the superior, Heavy versions, and sell the Heavy superior leather for a higher profit.
Requirements:
For Heavy Knothide Leather you’ll need:
- Leatherworking skill 325;
- Heavy Knothide Leather pattern, learned from any Leatherworking trainer.
For Heavy Borean Leather you’ll need:
- Leatherworking skill 390;
- Heavy Borean Leather pattern, learned from any Leatherworking trainer.
For Heavy Savage Leather you’ll need:
- Leatherworking skill 485;
- Heavy Savage Leather pattern, learned from any Leatherworking trainer.
Materials:
1 x Heavy Knothide Leather = 5 x Knothide Leather
1 x Heavy Borean Leather = 6 x Borean Leather
1 x Heavy Savage Leather = 5 x Savage Leather
Now, you can eaither farm the leather yourself, or buy it in AH. The idea is, whenever you want to sell any leather, always check the price for the superior alternative, for the types of common leather mentioned above. For example, in case there isn’t any Heavy Knothide Leather for sale, you may be able to sell one for 35-40g, while the price of a full stack of Knothide Leather is 25-30g.
